“A few years ago, we had a wonderful rainbow banner made to show our support for the LGBT+ community in the North East. The management committee feel that as we are approaching the sale of our building, now would be a good time for Newcastle Unitarians to get out there and make ourselves more visible in the community. As such, we would like to show off our banner and our support for equal rights and inclusivity for all.
We’re attending the Newcastle Pride March on Saturday 23rd July, all are welcome to join in. The march starts at Newcastle Civic Centre at 12noon and it will go from there towards the Town Moor. However, you don’t have to march! You can arrive at the start of the march and stand (or sit) with us and our rainbow banner to show our support for Pride. If you want to, you can walk for part or all of the way, there is no expectation to march the full route if this doesn’t work for you! We will be wearing our new hoodies and carrying our rainbow flag. The more the merrier – standing, sitting, or marching.
We are meeting on the day at our church at 11am on Saturday for coffee and breakfast. Please note that the back door into the yard (facing the car park) will be open, not the front door. We will then all walk together to the Civic Centre for the march.
