Children and Young People

Spring Miscellany

Children and young people are welcome to join us at our services and socials, but please note that we meet in a building with limited space and no play areas, and our services are currently more suitable for young people and adults, rather than younger children, as we do not currently have a Sunday School or youth group. We may look at setting one up if we have enough young people attending in future to make it viable!

Older children and teenagers are welcome to join us in person or on Zoom if they want to attend our full services, but safeguarding requires an adult to be in the same room as anyone aged under 16 on a Zoom call, or accompanying them if they are joining us in person. Please note that we’ll disable the ‘private chat’ function in Zoom meetings when we have younger members present. We have two safeguarding officers at the church who are happy to discuss this, details here: Safeguarding.

You can find out about our upcoming services and how to join them here: Services and Events, and you can watch some of our past services here: Newcastle upon Tyne Unitarians YouTube

Our national Unitarian movement has a Youth Programme which organises events and support Unitarian children and young people, and their communities. You can find out more about it here: UK Unitarian Youth Programme.

Young Unitarians aged 14-18 may like to join the Bad Coffee Club, which meets in person and online: Bad Coffee Club

Online Unitarian Parents’ Group: The Unitarian Youth Programme is looking at setting up online gatherings for Unitarian parents. If you’d like more information please contact Gavin Howell, GA Youth Coordinator here: Contact Gavin Howell

The national Unitarian movement has a charity we support, Send A Child to Hucklow, (SACH), which arranges holidays at the Unitarian Holiday Centre (the Nightingale Centre) at Great Hucklow in Derbyshire for groups of disadvantaged children regardless of religion, politics or race. Find out more here: SACH, and also please be aware that we can arrange some financial support through the Northern Unitarian Association (NUA) for young people to attend events such as trips to Hucklow, or attending the General Assembly of Unitarians and Free Christians in the UK, our annual get-together which has a programme of events to allow Unitarian children and young people to get together.

We are always happy to answer any questions about our services and events, so if you have questions, get in touch here: info@newcastleunitarians.org.uk, or call: 07506 255 731
