More about Rev. William Turner
Following from our recent post about Rev. William Turner, friend of our fellowship and regular worship Leader Paul Lindsay Dawson got in touch to share some photographs and information about one of our most illustrious ministers:
“Here is some information about W. M. Turner – father and son – from Westgate Unitarians. The old Northgate End Unitarian Chapel in Halifax, had a bust of Turner Junior – see the clipping!
Turner Senior is buried in the Orangery grounds in Wakefield although, on last inspection, the stone is missing. He was first buried in the burial ground at Westgate Common, which was later cleared to make way for a bakery. Turner was moved to the Orangery site, whilst the other burials were deposited in a mass grave at anunknown location in Wakefield cemetery on Sugar Lane.”
