A summary report on the GA, including the main points about what took place (in my opinion!), and all of my ‘Roving Reporter’ write-ups:

Summary

The key points:

• This year there continued to be a focus on looking outwards, not inwards, and how we adapt to our changed circumstances, including the ‘Innovation Challenge’ to free up funding to pay for leadership, ministry, and improved outreach and administration.
• The Keynote Speech and Anniversary Service were especially positive and well-received, and the standard of the workshops was very high, with much interesting information, discussion and ideas.
• There was much debate – some healthy, some perhaps less so – over the motions on peace initiatives for Gaza, removing the limitations on ordinary motions at the GA, artificial intelligence, the innovation challenge, and the support for the No More Deaths campaign.
• Many present expressed admiration for Newcastle upon Tyne Unitarians’ commitment to facing the future head-on and taking action to avoid having to close due to the situation with our building, and for our determination and creativity in resolving the situation and finding new ways to meet.
