Ronald Gordon Wilkin was born in June 1922 in Carlisle to John George Wilkin and Gertrude Margaret Wilkin (née Blundell).

He was killed in action on the 17th January 1944, age 21 years. He was buried in Bari War Cemetery, Italy. The inscription on his headstone is “To the dear memory of a beloved son who made the supreme sacrifice.”

His probate was granted on 4th May 1945, and he left £449 7s 11d to his mother.

His parents donated a wooden vase to the Church of the Divine Unity, Newcastle.
