“A few years ago, we had a wonderful rainbow banner made to show our support for the LGBT+ community in the North East. The management committee feel that as we are approaching the sale of our building, now would be a good time for Newcastle Unitarians to get out there and make ourselves more visible in the community. As such, we would like to show off our banner and our support for equal rights and inclusivity for all, by marching in the Pride celebrations this summer that are dotted around the region. There are so many to choose from; Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland and Northumberland. In due course, we would like to try to march at all of them if we can, but we’re definitely going to march at Newcastle Pride on 23rd July.

We would love to hear from the members of our congregation with your own thoughts and feelings on marching in Pride celebrations and making our church welcoming to the LGBTQIA+ community, and we’d also love to hear from you if you’d like to join everyone on the Pride march. Do get in touch!”
