Rev. Stephen Lindwood challenged us to move away from ‘How do we grow?’ and towards ‘What is the pain of the world, and how do we address it?’ Referring to the IPCC’s recent warnings of climate catastrophe, he identified a need for us to consider how our economic, social and political systems need to change, and think about how we act to help bring this about. Stephen suggested that we needed the three ‘R’s: Repentence, Resistance and Resilience! As he put it: “The world is on fire – and we need to deal with the arsonists.” In particular, it is for us to think about what the world’s spiritual needs are, and how we may work to meet them.
