Possibly not the most thrilling name for a Unitarian group, compared to, say “Earth Spirit”, or “Peace Fellowship”, but sometimes it’s less important to have a catchy name compared to, say, one that accurately describes what you’re all about. The past year has seen Unitarians of all locations, ages and levels of digital skill try to figure out what the marvels of online technology can do for our spiritual movement. This meeting was born from several discussions on Facebook about sharing good practice online, and also using the internet to share worship resources. After some discussion, we came away with three new things we can use: a regular newsletter about Unitarian Digital Resources, a forum for discussions about this (join here at: https://tinyurl.com/ygkorst4), and an area on the Unitarian Association for Lay Ministry website for digital worship resources, including readings and prayers. – it’s here: https://www.ukunitarians.org.uk/ualministry/worship.htm. In future, we’ll continue to discuss issues such as how to use a green screen for Zoom backgrounds, and broadband requirements for livestreaming services. Let’s hope we can continue our learning from the strange situation we’ve all been in.
