Clean Air Zone in Newcastle City Centre

A few people have asked about the Clean Air Zone in Newcastle City Centre. The good news is, it does not affect private cars – as the Council website puts it:

“Not all vehicles are affected by the Clean Air Zone. You will not be charged if you are driving a:

  • private car
  • motorbike
  • vehicle that meets minimum emissions standards.”

It also does not affect you if you travel in by bus, Metro, bike or train. So, you can drive to the church in your own car, and you will not be affected by the Clean Air Zone Charges. You can find out the full information here: Clean Air Zone in Newcastle.

Please note that if you take the A19 / Coast Road route from south of the Tyne to get to the church, you’ll need to pay the Tyne Tunnel toll. Information on how to do this is here: Tyne Tunnel Charges.

If you have any questions about this, you can email the church committee here: info@newcastleunitarians.org.uk or the Council here: transport@newcastle.gov.uk.
